Roy Whitley "Dinks" Brown, Jr.

Roy Whitley "Dinks" Brown, Jr., 51, of Conway, died at his home on Tuesday, February 26, 2019, surrounded by his family.

Roy was born June 9, 1967, in Hertford, Co., son of Roy Whitley Brown and Linda Wade Mulder. He worked with the Department of Corrections for over 25 years and was an instructor with Halifax Community College, until his illness. He enjoyed singing and playing the keyboard at the Lasker Barn Dance for several years and loved to share some of the songs that he composed and wrote. In addition to his father, Roy was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, W.T. and Clorene Wade, and his paternal grandparents, Ezra and Flossie Brown.

Surviving are his daughters, Callie Jordan Brown of Beaufort, NC, and Chelsea Marie Brown of Chapel Hill, NC; his mother and caretaker, Linda Mulder; brother, David Brown and his wife, Rhonda; two nephews, David, Jr. "Buddy" and Joseph Brown, all of Conway; and great-nephew, Paxton. Also, surviving is his special friend, Jennifer Moore.

Rev. Jim Cox will conduct a service to remember Roy's life on Saturday, March 2, 2019, in the chapel at Askew Funeral Services - Jackson Chapel in Jackson, NC, beginning at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions be made, in honor of Roy Whitley Brown, Jr., to: Zion UMC c/o Susan Taylor, 719 Firetower Rd., Jackson, NC 27845 or Vidant Home, Health and Hospice, 521 W. Myers St., Ahoskie, NC 27910.

The family would also like to give heartfelt thanks to everyone for all the prayers, calls, food, visits and support during this difficult time.
